Meet Kylie, Moderator, Head Writer, CPU! Chief

My name is Kylie, and I love TV!  So much of my life is wrapped up in theater, music, literature, and the arts…and yet, nothing beats relaxing on the couch and turning on the boob tube.  I’m an avid television watcher and have been since forever, as the medium constitutes my primary form of zoning out.  As it’s basically storytelling in long form, nothing can beat the feeling of becoming engrossed in characters you follow on a weekly basis to find out what happens to them, for better or for worse.  As with everything else, though, I also like to write and talk about what I feel, so I created this blog and, later, a related podcast just for the purpose of talking about my television tastes.

Hey look – an updated picture! Just in case you need to add a face to name, voice, and written word.

Oh, and I’m from Grand Rapids, Michigan – furniture capital of the world!  Or, home of ArtPrize.  Or Beer City USA.  We have Founders, Perrin, and a few others widely known. That makes us pretty cool.

Yet, CPU! is expanding!  We have a growing membership of podcast panelists, a new blogger, and five new moderators, who plan to grab hold of the podcast moderating reins from time to time.

Meet Kristen – Moderator and Panelist!

Kristen is also from Grand Rapids, Michigan, and enjoys the arts in all its forms, including TV, movies, theater, literature, and music. Her love of TV stems from her love of reading and theater – TV is a perfect combination of the two! She loves everything from classic shows (I Love Lucy was her very first favorite show) to current favorites, including Game of Thrones, Orange is the New Black, Once Upon a Time, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Agents of SHIELD, and many, many more.  She also really loves British television, such as Doctor Who, Sherlock, Downton Abbey, and The Paradise.

Kristen loves being a part of Couch Potatoes Unite! so much, she can be found on almost every podcast panel – she’s the one who says “dominoes” a lot, particularly when talking about Once Upon a Time, Orange is the New Black, Game of Thrones, Agents of SHIELD, Doctor Who, Downton Abbey, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, the Marvel’s Defenders series (including DaredevilJessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist), New Girl, the DCTU series (including Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl), and others listed here. She also co-moderates the How to Get Away With Murder panel and moderates the “Full/er House” Series and “The Gilmore Girls Life” Series! If you enjoy listening to our podcasts, chances are, you’ll hear her voice.

Meet Nick – Moderator and Panelist!

Nick lives in Grand Rapids but is originally from Chicago. When he isn’t doing podcasts, he can be found working in the education department at the John Ball Zoo or performing with No Outlet Improv Troupe (NOIT), of which he is a founding member (for reference, see our Top 5 Live featuring NOIT!). Nick likes classic sitcoms, such as M*A*S*H, Cheers, and Seinfeld.  Nick can be heard on the panels for Doctor Who, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, The X-Files series, Broadchurch, Supernatural, Orange is the New Black, Futurama, Grimm, Galavant, 3rd Rock from the Sun, the Marvel’s Defenders series (including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist), the DCTU series (including Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl), Gotham, the Sherlock series, and the Buffy-Verse series; he also co-moderates our American Horror Story series and moderates our A Series of Unfortunate Events panel. He is married to fellow CPU! panelist Sarah, with whom he has two sons, junior podcasters Jack and Eli!

Meet Edgar (Eddie) – Moderator, Reviewer, and Panelist!

Edgar is from Grand Rapids, Michigan. He works for Spectrum Health currently and enjoys musical theater. Edgar loves TV. What’s more, he likes to analyze TV – thus, a podcast panelist and TV reviewer was born!

Edgar enjoys trying to figure out what TV writers are thinking when they craft their shows. To wit, some of Edgar’s favorites include Sense8, Lost, and Once Upon a Time, basically shows that offer mystery that Edgar can analyze and figure out, as he likes to be one step ahead of the show.

Edgar is very excited to be a team member of Couch Potatoes Unite! You can hear his voice on the CPU! podcasts for Once Upon a Time, How to Get Away with Murder (which he co-moderates), and the one-time “Looking Back” podcasts about True Blood and Desperate Housewives, the latter of which he also moderated!

Meet Sarah – Moderator and Panelist!

Sarah is from Grand Rapids, Michigan, and loves theater, running, baking pies, and of course, watching television. When she isn’t watching TV, she works as a Special Education teacher and spends time with her family, including her fellow podcaster-husband Nick and their two junior podcasting sons, Jack and Eli. She co-moderates our American Horror Story series.  In addition, Sarah can be heard on the panels for Ally McBeal, Six Feet Under, Doctor Who, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Galavant, Glee, and The X-Files series. She also loves nerding out on Star Trek and Quantum Leap, and she is currently watching Angel.

Meet Krista – Moderator and Panelist!

Krista is from Grand Rapids, Michigan, and is delighted to be part of the CPU! Podcast family! She is on the panels for Downton Abbey, Orange Is The New Black, Broadchurch, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and co-moderates the panel for How to Get Away with Murder. Krista thinks that television, as a medium, is really coming into its own – the writing is getting so smart, and the stories are developed in a way that she does not believe would have been seen ten to twenty years ago. Krista’s favorites, in addition to the above, include dramas like The West Wing, Mad Men, Call the Midwife, and Gilmore Girls as well as shows like The IT Crowd and The Great British Bake-Off. Krista is so pleased to be able to talk about wonderful programs with lovely people.

Thanks for visiting!  We hope you stay awhile.  Feel free to sit back, relax, and/or say hello. If you have recommendations or just want to chat, leave a comment or say hello in the guestbook (click the box in the upper left).
